Czech kingdom (Kingdom of Bohemia) is historical predecessor of Czechoslovakia and the modern Czech republic.
Czech kingdom was Central European power in medieval times. Czechia was part of Holy Roman Empire for about 1000 years with a very special status. It was the only kingdom in HRE borders.

Bohemia is latin name for land of Boii (a celtic tribe). Celts were substituted by Germanic Marcomanni later and finally by a Slavic nation of Czechs in 5th century AD. Czechs were the first Slavic nation who adopted christianity.
Prague is capital of Czech and it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an unique mixture of romanesque, medieval, renaissance and baroque architecture.
The most famous royal dynasties ruled in Czech lands were Premyslids, Luxembourgs and Habsburgs.
Czech coat of arms
The original coat of arms of Czech kingdom was black flaming eagle (coat of arms of Premyslid dynasty). The original banner was changed to red banner with a silver lion with a golden royal crown. The Czech lion has two tails.
A legend says that the lion came as coat of arms by order of Frederick the Barbarossa, HRE emperor. Barbarossa attempted to conquer a rebelling italian city of Milano without any success. Czech contingent of knights stormed the city on their own and they won.

Czech knights were elite warriors of the medieval Europe. Czech hussite rebels won 20 battles in row against united Europen knight armies in 15th century. Czech officer was commander of Vienna during siege by Turks in 1683. Czechs served as merecenaries, military commanders and advisors for rulers of various european kingdoms and coountries.

Bruncvik is a legendary Czech knight armed by a magical sword and accompanied by a lion. He fought dragon and other beasts. Statue of Bruncvik was built in Vltava river and it is visible from Charles bridge in Prague.

Premysl Ottokar II. - one of the most powerful king of Premyslid dynasty and one of the most powerful king of 13th century Europe. He was called gold because of his welth and iron because of his troops of heavy knights.
Premysl died in Battle of Marchfeld (Durnkrut, 1278 AD) in war against allied armies of Hungary and Austria when part of his lords switched side.
Czech female warriors
Agnes of Bohemia (Agnes of Prague) was a Premyslid princess. Agnes is holy saint of Czech. Agnes is the only woman in history who ever founded a military knight order (Knights of the Cross with the Red Star).
