Heavy Cavalry swords of the Napoleonic Era often have long, single-edged straight blades with thick spines that could be used in the manner of a lance in galloping charge - long enough to hit the foe with some reach, strong enough to absorb the shock of impact. Not simply used for thrusting, these swords could come down on foes with gruelling force due to their weight, length and blade geometry.
This Napoleonic French Heavy Cavalry Sword has a blade of unsharpened, tempered, high carbon steel. The hilt is of brass and the grip is of brown leather interlaced with twisted copper wire. The scabbard is of steel and has steel hanging rings.
Steel: Tempered EN9 High Carbon Steel.
